Mayapur Online Education is a new initiative of ISKCON Mayapur to produce online courses on the primary books of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada–Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Srimad-Bhagavatam and Caitanya-caritamrita. This educational project is conducted under the guidance and supervision of ISKCON Mayapur’s Educational Divisional Heads HH Bhakti Purusottama Maharaja and HG Sankarsana Nitai Prabhu.
From 1 February 2010, two online courses have been made available:
1. Basic Study of Bhagavad-gita
2. Basic Study of First Canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam
These courses involve the students in a scrutinizing study of Srila Prabhupada’s purports. They are self-paced, without start dates and end dates–students can join in these courses at any time of the year. We estimate that many will be able to complete each course within 6 to 12 months; however, students can take more time if they want, as long as they continue to progress through their course(s).
The courses will be conducted in English. Teacher-student interactions constitute the core of these courses. The students’ progress is monitored by their respective teachers who give them feedback and assistance when required so that they can understand Srila Prabhupada’s teachings. As far as possible students are provided with individual help whenever they need it. Students will be able to query from the teacher about what they are studying and they will be helped accordingly.
Satisfactory performance in the course will result in the student receiving a certificate of successful completion issued by the Educational Divisional Heads of ISKCON Mayapur.
The registration fee for each course is 125 USD for students living outside India and Rs 2,500 for students living inside India. We do not offer full or partial refunds for those who sign up for our courses and do not complete them.

By 1 Aug 2010, two more courses will be made available:
1. Basic Study of Second Canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam
2. Sanskrit Level 1
The prospectuses for these courses will be released shortly.
We are also preparing to make available advanced online courses and onsite extension courses on these books of His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada. Corresponding to the study aptitude of the devotees, three types of courses will be provided on each of these books.
1. A basic study of a book will involve the students in scrutinizing its contents (primarily its purports), clarifying difficult passages through questions and answers, and working through assignments and tests.
2. An advanced study of a book will involve the students in listening to audio recordings of a detailed analysis of its contents (primarily its purports) along with selections from the commentaries of the predecessor acaryas, clarifying detailed points of philosophy and application of scriptural teachings through questions and answers, working through assignments and tests and submitting well-referenced project papers on ten topics based on Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura’s dasamula framework. (We are planning to make these audio recordings along with notes available for all without charge.)
3. An onsite extension study of a book entails the student attending a six month course in Mayapur. Students of this program should have listened to, or be listening to, the audio recordings of the advanced study program to take full advantage of the classes. This program will be conducted free of charge and will be open to those who have been accepted as students.
While the basic studies involve the students in a scrutinizing study of Srila Prabhupada’s purports, the advanced studies involve the students in an analytical study of the purports along with excerpts from the commentaries of the predecessor acaryas and the onsite extension studies further consolidate and clarify the teachings of Srila Prabhupada and his predecessor acaryas.
Bhagavad-gita As It Is and each volume of the 18 volume edition of Srimad-Bhagavatam will have the above three types of courses. So will Caitanya-caritamrta, which will deal with six essential philosophical sections of the text as set forth in Teachings of Lord Caitanya. Those taking up study of multi-volume Cantos will be additionally tested at the end of each Canto. Study of the Tenth Canto will include a study of Krsna, The Supreme Personality of Godhead.
